Crazy ive been listening for 12 years

I used to listen to this song on repeat back in 2018 when my mom got sick with cancer. She got well and I had forgotten about this song, somehow. What a nice relief , still. <3

Keaton, I need you to see this. I’m a 14 year old dancer. I had my very first solo choreographed to your song, Marionette. It absolutely touched me and my choreographer, and we bonded so much over it. I had a beautiful black and white striped leotard with long sleeves and a cut out back, (the costume in my profile picture) and the choreography was full of floppy movements and 90° angles with my arms. We interpreted your song as a marionette being “lost on” her marionettist and constantly wanting to please or impress her master. I absolutely fell into that role as my coaches puppet, and I’ve never had more fun or felt more connected to a song in my entire life. This song changed my life, thank you for doing what you do.

That made all the feelings feel.

I heard this poem over 7 years ago when I was 18. the older I get, the more I see when I hear this poem. At first, it was a girl, then a few years later it was my friends, and now I see myself when I hear it. Grow up with me means so many things across our lives, but it always stems from the same innocent part of the soul, that never changes.
